Isan Elba Shares Dad Idris Elba's Best Advice for Hollywood

Isan Elba is soaking up as much advice as she can from dad Idris Elba.
The 22-year-old—who is the daughter of Idris and ex-wife Hanne Nørgaard—recently shared the best guidance she has received from her movie star father as she pursues an acting career.
“I know it’s so cliche,” Isan exclusively told E! News at the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show Oct. 15, “but being yourself. But also being very intentional. Do everything with intention because you leave a legacy and come from legacy.”
And while Isan—who was selected in 2019 as a Golden Globes Ambassador, a role for which the child of a famous actor is selected to help with the show’s proceedings—is grateful for her father’s advice, she’s also a typical daughter who gets embarrassed by him.
So, when Idris was featured in a Calvin Klein ad in New York City in February, the pics of the former Sexiest Man Alive prompted Isan to make a TikTok of herself “screaming” in horror.
“I was like, ‘Oh, it’s funny,’” Isan told E!. “I was laughing about it with my friends. But I erased it from my memory now.” (For more from Isan’s interview, tune into E! News on Oct. 16 at 11 p.m.)
All jokes aside, the bond between Idris—who also shares son Winston, 10, with ex-girlfriend Naiyana Garth—and his children is extremely important to the Beast actor.
“They’re a part of me,” Elba told People in 2017. “They are the reason I get up and do it. When it’s a hard day and I think about bringing them up, I go, ‘Thank you for existing so I have a purpose.’”
